About Us
For Balinese Hindus, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is one of the nine most significant temples, known as the Khayangan Jagat Temples. This temple majestically stands at an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level, right on the shores of Lake Beratan. It is located in Candikuning Village, within the Baturiti District of Tabanan Regency, approximately 60 kilometres from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. The temple was also featured on the Rp 50,000 banknote issued in 2005. According to records in the Babad Mengwi palm-leaf manuscript, this temple was built around 1556 Saka (1634 AD) by the King of Mengwi, I Gusti Agung Putu. Currently, the temple is managed by four satakan (community groups) from the traditional villages surrounding the temple.
